Sonia Agarwal back to kollywood!

Divorce has not put Sonia Agarwal down. After separating from Selvaraghavan, Sonia was seen at all the major filmy events in good spirits. She also showed her interest to return to films during those times.

First there was news from Kasthoori Raja that Sonia will be making her re-entry through one of his films.

But now we have confirmed news saying Sonia Agarwal is homecoming with the upcoming film ‘Vaanam’ starring Silambarasan, Prakash Raj, Bharath, Anushka and Sneha Ullal.

In ‘Vaanam’, Sonia plays the wife of Prakash Raj. ‘Vaanam’ is the Tamil remake of the super hot Telugu film ‘Vedam’ directed by Krish. The Tamil version is also directed by Krish himself.

‘Vaanam’ is many stories spun together beautifully. All the stars have equal screen space so Sonia is there to make an impact again. More over Sonia will have a song and more scenes than what was there for her role in the Telugu original.

Interestingly Sonia was approached for the same role when the original ‘Vedam’ was conceived. But she could not take it for private reasons. Sonia‘s last film in Tamil ‘Thiruttu Payale’ was three years ago and it was the biggest hit if that year.

Sonia Agarwal and suicide rumours

Rumour mills worked overtime Monday evening saying that Sonia Agarwal attempted suicide dejected over the break-up of her marriage with Selvaraghavan.

However, the actress’s family was quick to react to it claiming that she was ‘safe and well’ at their ancestral house in Chandigarh.

According to Sonia’s brother, “Why should my sister attempt suicide? She is staying with us in Chandigarh for the past few days. She is fit and fine.”

The actress and her filmmaker husband applied for a divorce at a family court in Chennai on Wednesday. Since the couple filed for divorce with mutual consent, it is expected that the legal proceedings would be completed soon.

There was a buzz a few months ago that the marriage of Selva and Sonia was on rocks. However they ‘proved it false’ by attending the audio release ceremony of ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ together. Sonia was one among the celebrities who lit the 'kuthuvilakku' at the event.

Sonia made her first appearance with ‘Kadhal Konden’ a film directed by Selvaraghavan that also had her brother-in-law Dhanush in the lead.

Sonia Agarwal back to acting!

Sonia Agarwal, the original ’Punjabi Kudi’ from Chandigarh, who blazed a trail in Tamil cinema with her performances and glamour, is now moving over to the small screen. She plays the protagonist in Kushboo’s new serial on Kalaignar TV.

The 26 year old actress made a sensational debut in Tamil with Selvaraghavan’s Dhanush’s thriller Kathal Kondein in 2003. In three years she has done just seven films in Tamil- Kovil, Madurai, 7-G Rainbow Colony, Oru Kaluriyin Kathai, Oru Naal Oru Kanavu, Thiruttu Payale, and Pudhupettai. Remember that her Sathurangam with Srikanth directed by Karu Palaniyappan is still lying in the cans.

And ironically, Sonia’s serial is also titled Sathurangam, though the latest news is that it will be changed and announced at a press meet to be held soon.

Sonia who is married to her mentor Selvaraghavan had virtually retired from films. And now she has decided to keep herself busy in front of the cameras as she plays Radhika the leading lady in the serial.
