Karthi’s Siruthai trailer launched

The trailer and website launch of Studio Green's Siruthai was a grand affair at the Satyam cinemas on Sunday morning.
The entire event looked like a family affair with warmth and good wishes emanating for the Suriya-Karthi pair by all the dignitaries on the dais.
While Lingusamy launched the website, Gautham Menon launched the trailer, in the presence of chief guest Suriya. The event was one of the rare ones where the heroine of a film is present, with Tamannaah looking resplendent in a sari. The trailer and two songs were screened for the audience.
While one song had Karthi in nine get ups with Santhanam, the other was a love melody shot in Phuket between the lead pair.
The music director Vidyasagar revealed how choosy director S Siva was about the music while Suriya said, "I am waiting to work in a film with Vidyasagar but Karthi has reached there before me. Even now when I run on the treadmill I hear only his music for that extra energy to run."
He added, "We normally keep photos of gods or family members on our mobile phones but Karthi kept Ravi Teja̢۪s pic on his phone for one year, just to get the nuance of his cop role right from the Telugu original of this film. He does comedy effortlessly and this is a big plus in the film. I am sure Siruthai will be ten times more than Singam."
Jeyam Raja praised the Suriya- Karthi brothers team while producer Ravindran described the film as a feast for the public, exhibitors and distributors this Pongal. Director Rajesh said, "This is like a double promotion for Karthi who is doing a dual role."
Karthi added, "This is a dream film for me. While playing the cop however, I tried hard not to look like Suriya in Singam. Director Siva has worked on the script for more than a year to get it right and Vidyasagar̢۪s music will be a hit. I am grateful to the entire team for putting this film together."
Producer Gnanavel Raja came in for much praise from one and all for giving quality films so far. The event was attended by Parthiban, Shanmugam, SP Muthuraman, A Jagannathan, Prabu Solomon, Subhash C Bose, Anbu Chezhiyan, Vijay, Rajeevan and cameraman of the film, Velraj, amongst others.
Tamannah’s speech in Tamil was praised by Suriya who lauded her hard work to reach the top.

Karthi’s Siruthai Pongal release!

Latest buzz reveals that Siruthai race its way among the Pongal Tamil movie releases, 2011. Siruthai is being produced by Studio Green Gnanavel Raja, who had earlier produced 'Paruthi Veeran' and 'Naan Mahan Alla'.
Siva takes care of the direction part, music is being scored by Vidya Sagar and Anthony is handling the editing part. Director Siva who has directed mega hit movies like 'Sangam' and 'Souryam'.
Director Siva says that the story line is based upon a normal youngster's necessity to complete an unexpected difficult task. For the first time Karthi is playing a dual role. An educated youth and a local pickpocket character sums up the two roles of Karthi in Siruthai. As a feather to the cap, the star cast includes the hot favorite comedian Santhanam. Comedy sequences have demanded more takes during the shooting as the dialogues pronounced by Santham were so hilarious, says a source.
The film was planned to release on December, but the latest reports states the movie will be released for Pongal 2011. ‘Siruthai’ is the remake of Telugu blockbuster ‘Vikramakurudu’ directed by SS Rajamouli.

‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ and ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ are universal successes and director of the two films Rajesh has been accepted in the group of front line directors today. Rajesh’s proficiency in situational comedies is now legendary with just two films speaking for him.
Rajesh’s next will be also a romantic comedy which will launch Red Giant boss Udhayanidhi Stalin as a hero. After the Red Giant production is complete Rajesh has been committed to direct Karthi for a production under the banner Green Studios.
Karthi who has a string of successes under his hood is considered a smart fellow when comes to choosing a script. So if he volunteers to work in Rajesh’s script, then that’s going to be another feel good for life time film.

Karthi is in love with Tamanna?

Karthi Sivakumar, one of the very few eligible bachelors of Tamil cinema, may lose the status soon. For, his parents have started looking for a life partner for him and the actor himself has confirmed this.
He revealed this when journalists asked him in Chennai on Thursday whether he is in love with Tamannah, his ‘Paiyaa’ co-star. “She is my colleague and a very good friend of mine,” Karthi said.
He added: “My father and mother have been searching for a bride for me. They know me well and I am hopeful that they would zero in on a perfect girl. I would also consult with my anna Suriya and anni Jyothika before tying the knot.”
On his forthcoming ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’, Karthi said, “it is based on a real life incident happened to one of the relatives of director Suseendran. The film will show on screen a different side of Chennai, which has not been highlighted in Tamil cinema so far.”

For someone who got off with a lacklustre start in the Telugu film industry, Kajal Aggarwal, who debuted in Lakshmi Kalyanam, made up for it with director Krishna Vamsi’s Chandamama that became a mega hit. Then she went on to prove herself with Magadheera, Aarya 2 and many other projects.
The lady is all excited about her upcoming Tamil project Naan Mahan Alla opposite Karthi. “I play Priya, a typical middle class girl who falls in love with Jeeva, a middle class guy, played to perfection by Karthi. The characters are so down-to-earth that anybody can relate to them. Priya is a very realistic person and is devoid of any tantrums or hullabaloo,” she said to a leading English daily.
She added, “Suseenthiran is known for his realistic portrayal of his characters. I saw his Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and fell in love with the film. He has recreated the magic in Naan Mahan Alla, where he has focussed on realism. There’s no scene in the film that’s exaggerated.”
When asked about her co-star Karthi, she said, “Karthi is an extremely talented actor and has come up with a great performance in the film. He is friendly and made me very comfortable on the sets. We got along like a house on fire and share the same rapport off screen too.”

Karthi , Jayam Ravi clash!

For a hard core film buff, Fridays are special as there would be a new release to look forwards to. But 23rd July is going to be a double whammy for all movie lovers as Karthi’s Naan Mahaan Alla and Jayam Ravi’s Thillalangadi is set to hit the theatres on this day.
In Naan Mahaan Alla, Karthi is being directed by Suseendran of Vennilla Kabbadi Kuzhu fame and Kajal Agarwal joins him as the heroine. The story is set in Chennai and is expected to contain all the entertaining factors in a realistic manner. Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music for NMA.
On the other hand, Thillalangadi is the remake of Telugu film Kick and comes to Tamil through Jayam Raja. Jayam Ravi and Tamanna will be doing the roles which were done by Ravi Teja and Ileana in the Telugu version.
Hence it will be a clash of sorts for the young heroes Ravi and Karthi and movie buffs are certainly not complaining!

Karthi’s ‘Naan Mahan Alla’ songs from July 5

Here is good news for all Karthi fans! The songs of Karthi's upcoming flick Naan Mahan Alla will directly hit stores on July 5, 2010 and the film will grace theatres on August 13, 2010.
Naan Mahan Alla, directed by Suseendran of Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu fame, is expected to showcase the romantic side of Karthi in a script designed by Suseendran and backed by the music of Yuvanshankar Raja. And for the first time in their careers, Tollywood sensation Kajal Agarwal will team up with Karthi in this film. The latest buzz is that Durai Dhayanidhi's Cloud Nine Movies has acquired the release rights of this film.
Reportedly, the film will be dubbed and released in Telugu simultaneously.

Silambarasan, in all probability, could star in a film that will be directed by Lingusamy. The success of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa has catapulted Silambarasan’s star status and he has been getting offers from topnotch directors.
Sources close to Lingusamy say that the director has narrated a storyline to Silmabarasan. Rumor has it that Silambarasan’s role will be very stylish in this flick and in a totally different dimension as opposed to VTV.
The buzzword is that Karthi’s role in Paiyaa and his trendy getup will be the talk of the town once the film releases. Lingusamy intends to do the same magic to Silambarasan, we hear.

Paiyya (also spelt as Paiya), starring Karthi and Tamanna, will grace theatres on April 2. Paiyya is an urban story that depicts some interesting happenings in the lives of a pair of lovers. The movie was shot in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The music of this Karthi-Tamanna starrer, released early in November, is already a runaway hit.
The movie is directed by Lingusamy, who also assured that Karthi will appear in a never-seen-before look. Initially, the film was supposed to hit screens on Pongal day, but got delayed as Karthi’s Aayirathil Oruvan was being released, then the film was postponed to February, and now again to April.
There are also rumours that the delay is due to the financial problems of the producers. Dayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Pictures has bagged the release rights of the film recently. The film has bagged a clean ‘U’ certificate by the censors without any cuts.

Actor Karthi overwhelmed us with his extraordinary performance in his debut flick 'Paruthiveeran' and is now raking in appreciation with his recent release 'Aayirathil Oruvan'.
The young actor has won laurels from Tollywood buffs. It's worth mentioning that the dubbed version of 'Aayirathil Oruvan' is doing good business as the direct Telugu release 'Kedi' starring Nagarjuna in lead roles.
Recently, the actor was here to meet the winners of Valentine's Day contest at Sathyam Cinemas. When asked about what makes him happy, Karthi said, "Home is the best place where I feel like paradise. Once, I am in home, my tension and worries are gone. I have seen my father live by this philosophy and I am merely following it."

Karthi's future plans

No, we are not talking about his Valentine's Day plan, but we bring you the handsome actor's upcoming releases! More than two years after his debut movie Paruthiveeran, Karthi had a recent release to his credit in Aayirathil Oruvan. Though the movie has been getting mixed responses, there is no doubt that his performance in the movie is stupendous. And the movie by itself is an important chapter in Tamil cinema.
Breaking away from rustic roles, Karthi will be seen in a urban look in his forthcoming film Paiyya,followed by Naan Mahan Alla with director Suseendran, which is 60% complete. According to Karthi, though he enjoyed playing rustic roles, he is also happy that he can finally play a city boy, something that is close to his real self.
After these, Karthi will star in Vada Chennai directed by Vettrimaran. The buzz is that the handsome actor will play the role of a good fisherman who unwittingly falls in the trap of a mafia gang. As usual, this Vettrimaran flick will be set in the bylanes of Chennai with a realistic touch.

Selvaraghavan’s two years in the making, action adventure Aayirathil Oruvan is a brave attempt at trying to come out with something new in the placid world of Tamil cinema. Breaking away from the shackles of the stereotypes, the director transports us to a whole new world and at the end of it all, we are dumb stuck by the visuals, the packaging and the new way of storytelling.
The film has a terrific first half with a basic thread, comedy, action, eye catching song picturisation, stunning visuals and grandeur. The film combines ultra-violent action with murky mysticism. The Government appoints a secret team led by archaeologist Anitha Pandian (Reemma) and a military officer Ravi (Azhagamperumal) to track down the missing links after a scientist and archaeologist (Pratap Pothen) vanishes into thin air while he was on his mission to discover the lost Chola civilization!
To help them reach the lost city, Lavanya, daughter of the missing archaeologist is roped in for the mission. And helping the group to carry their belongings through the rough and tough jungle terrain and sea is the Coolie gang led by Muthu (Karthi), a boorish, uncouth, foul mouthed guy with roving eyes. They go through some of the most inhospitable terrain full of hidden danger and nature’s fury.
Suddenly after a tedious expedition, they stumble on the lost Chola civilization and its king (Parthipan) and find unexplained links between them and the world’s earliest culture. What follows is a series of happenings that will leave you glued to the screen.
The subtle message that Selva tries to convey is that a group of people cut away from civilisation, struck with poverty and knowledge is far superior to the present generation who lack values, culture or basic human kindness. All this leads to some unexpected twists and turns in the climax till you find that history repeats once again as Muthu rescues and run away with the King’s son to the darkness, like what happened centuries back!
Aayirathil Oruvan starts with a bang, but it doesn’t unfold quickly. The second half takes a u-turn and is riddled with holes in the plot line and is confusing and tedious. It looks like another film and there are long gaps of silence in the climax which will make an ordinary viewer restless.
Directing an interweaving screenplay, Selva’s narrative structure bursts with sporadic agility along with top class camera work by Ramji.
GV Prakash’s background score and his music is tangy. Un Mela Aasadhan.. sung by Dhanush, Aishwarya Dhanush and Andrea and picturised on the lead trio is a rocker. The remixed old MGR song on Karthi and the coolies is a treat.
Reema brings an uninhibited joie to her role as Anitha and thanks to the ability of the director has extracted a fine performance from her. Andrea is likeable and seems to have enjoyed doing the film. Parthipan is adequate as the king. But it is Karthi, who is a scream. Right from his introduction scene till the end, he is lovable and provides humour. Actually Karthi with his punchlines is getting the loudest claps as the crazy MGR fan and has made a sensational comeback three years after his debut film.
The film has to be seen in the right perspective. Selvaraghavan is trying to explore the frontiers of commercial cinema. For this alone he should be applauded.

Tamil actor Karthi’s Aayiratil Oruvan has already hit the screens. Now the dubbed version in Telugu is getting ready and has been titled Yuganiki Okkadu.
Meanwhile, the actor in an interview to a Telugu daily, said that he has a lot of admiration for Tollywood stars, Allu Arjun and NTR for their scintillating dance moves, and Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu for their style. He also added that he goes mad watching the dance of Allu and NTR.

Karthi turns philosophical

Three-year long wait for his second film to hit the screens has perhaps made Karthi Sivakumar philosophical. The ‘Paruthiveeran’ actor says every man has to wait for his turn and patience is one virtue that has to be followed by any human being.
“It is true that I am craving to see my face on screen after three years. At the same time, there is nothing to feel bad about it. For, ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ is one such film which deserves the delay. Working under Selvaraghavan is pleasure,” he says.
Ask him whether he would patch up with his mentor Ameer, with whom he had differences after the release of his maiden venture, the young actor quotes his father. “My dad would often say things can’t be decided by anyone and time is the biggest healer. I believe in his words.”
Happy about his costumes in Lingusamy’s ‘Paiyaa’, Karthi says, “there are no big costumes for me in my first two films (‘Paruthiveeran’ and ‘Aayirthail Oruvan’). ‘Paiyaa’ is here to break the jinx. You can see a colourful Karthi in it.”

Karthi pairs with Kajal Agarwal!

Paruthiveeran Karthi has signed his fourth film titled Naan Mahan Allai for his cousin K.E Gjnavel Raja of Studio Green to be directed by Susindran of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu fame.
The hot and happening girl in Tollywood after that mega blockbuster Magadheera, Kajal Agarwal is the heroine of the film. In Tamil, she was last seen in Saran’s Modhi Vilayadu which did not set the cash registers ringing.
Karthi is yet to have a release since that pathbreaking Paruthiveeran in February 2007. The latest news is that his Lingusamy directed Paiyya will release first followed by Selvarghavan’s Aayirathil Oruvan.
Naan Mahan Allai will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, camera by Madhi, art direction Rajeevan and will be shot in Chennai, Hyderabad and Vizakapatanam from September 4.
Says producer Gjnavel Raja: “Naan Mahan Allai is a fast paced film with action and romance mixed together, based on a solid script of Susindran, and Karthi is going to rock.”

‘‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ is going to unfold on 4th of July. starring Karthi, Andrea and Reema Sen, is said to be much awaited movie of the season. The movie directed by Selva Ragavan, is expected to be a racy thriller story with background scores equally paced. The movie is at last going to hit the big screens after being in construction for almost a couple of years. It already has been out that the lead heroine, Andrea, has crooned few songs in the movie. The music scores under the control of GV. Prakash are making rounds in the air as musical refreshments. His punchy track from the movie ‘Govinda…Govinda…’ are topping the chartbusters. He went on to repeat the same fabulous melody by portraying it in two different versions. The suspense of ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ is going to unfold on 4th of July.
