Dhanush's '3' Pongal release!

Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Dhanush's upcoming film '3' will see a Pongal release along with Shankar's 'Nanban', a multi-starrer featuring Vijay. '3' marks Aishwarya Dhanush's debut directorial project and has Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in the lead.

Suriya’s 7Aum Arivu releasing in July?

A.R. Murugadoss' much awaited 7Aum Arivu with Suriya and Shruti Haasan in lead role will reportedly grace theatres by July end. According to sources, film is made with a whopping budget of Rs. 84 crores. Interestingly, this is also the highest budget film in Suriya's career till date. Recently, producer Udayanidhi Stalin and director Murugadoss approached US based Stan Winston Studios, who has created some mesmerizing graphics in Cameroon's Avatar and Shankar's Enthiran, to do the visual effects. The star cast of 7Aum Arivu includes  Abhinaya, Avinash, Jai, and Johny Tri Nguyen. The technical team includes Harris Jayaraj (music), Ravi K. Chandran (cinematography) and Anthony Gonsalves (editing).

The film is based on the life of a circus artiste and Suriya plays the role of a trapeze artiste cum animal trainer. Sources reveal that Suriya will be seen in a dual role, playing a contemporary character in one scene and a Chinese monk (through flashback) in a previous birth.

Shruti Haasan pairing with Jr. NTR

Young Telugu superstar Jr. NTR's proposed film Gharjana under the direction of Boyapati Srinu is likely to star Vogue beauty Shruti Haasan as the heroine.

Though there were reports that actress Trisha would be the heroine, it is now heard that the makers are considering Shruti Haasan, whose last release was Anaganaga O Dheerudu.

Suriya & Shruti in Thailand for 7am Arivu!

For the last 10 days Suriya and Shruthi Haasan are shooting for AR Murgadoss directed 7am Arivu in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand.

Two days back they shifted to the cold and windy Hong Kong.

Some crucial scenes and a song composed by Harris Jayaraj are being shot by ace cameraman Ravi K Chandran.

Murgadoss is a fast worker and with this schedule nearly 75 percent of the film will be completed.

7am Arivu is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giants, and is one of the biggest movies on the floor.

It is said to be an action packed entertainer. Murgadoss feels his script will once again triumph, as the story is in a different genre.

7AAM ARIVU GOES BACK 1500 YEARS

AR Murugadoss has planned for a special segment in the Suriya-starrer 7aam Arivu. Grapevine has it that this segment will go back 1500 years giving the movie a historical feel. Further, it is known that Suriya is playing gymnast/acrobat in the film. Since this requires the star to do some amazing circus stunts, he is undergoing training in Thailand where some of the best circus troupes in the world are camped.

Mallika Sherawat is all praise for Shruthi Haasan and says the first daughter of Kamal Haasan has taken a song in ‘Hisss’ to the next level. “Shruthi is brilliant and awesome,” the Bollywood bombshell says.

“Shruthi even wrote beautiful lyrics in English. She is a major talent and it was amazing to watch her work. I believe she would scale great heights in music and movies,” Mallika adds.

The ‘Dasavatharam’ actress, who is donning the role of a snake-woman in ‘Hisss,' offered prayers at the popular Sree Nagaraja Temple at Mannarasala in Kerala on Monday ahead of the film's release.

In a brief chat with journalists, Mallika said she had the best of hopes for the movie, which will be released worldwide on Friday. “I’m very excited. It’s such a special film and I’m really anxious for everyone to finally see it,” she said.

”I have come here to give my respects to the Snake God. It's after 24 years that a film on naag-naagin is coming up, so I prayed that the film does well,” Mallika added.

During her stay in the city she met up with director AR Murgadoss and music director Harris Jayaraj, the people behind her first film in Tamil with Suriya.

The buzz is that Murgadoss gave her a narration of her role in the film which she was quite impressed. Sources close to the director says he wants her to sing all the songs that will be picturised on her.

Sruthi has very good vibes with Harris. Remember she sang the hit number Adiye Kolluthu… with Krish in Vaaranam Aayiram, Harris’s last film with Gautham Menon?

Now in all probability, Sruthi will act and sing her own songs under the baton of Harris Jayaraj, for Murgadoss.

Shruti Haasan to perform in Mumbai

Shruti Haasan, daughter of veteran actor Kamal Haasan, is all set to perform a dance recital at an awards function.

The one film old actress will shake her leg for Sabsey Favourite Kaun awards at a suburban hotel in Mumbai. Talking about the event, the star kid said, “I have performed as a singer till now, but now am performing as a dancer. I am not rating myself now, but will definitely improve with every step I do.”

We also hear that designer Binal Shah is styling Shruti's dress. Shruti is also working hard to rebuild her band and come up with a new name for it.

Sources say that the starlet will be flying to New York soon to celebrate her New Year there.

Buzz up!Dutt could not attend the event as he was shooting for Aladin’s promo track at the same time. She sported in blue jeans and performed in the stage with full of energy. Being my daughter is a disadvantage for Shruti: Kamal Haasan

Tamil thespian Kamal Haasan says his name is a ’disadvantage’ for his daughter Shruti Haasan but ’she will have to live with it’. "It is certainly a disadvantage for her, but she’ll have to work with it that she is my daughter. She can’t change it and she’ll have to live with it and carry that luggage. And I’ll always be there to support her," Kamal told IANS in an interview. But the 54-year-old is all praises for his daughter who is making her Bollywood debut with "Luck". "She’s an extraordinary girl and I am not talking as her father. I observed her myself at an audition and I was really impressed. I hope there are many more who think like that. She’s found her own niche and is going in the right direction," he added. Shruti, 23, is the eldest of two daughters born to Kamal and actress Sarika and has a professional degree in music from the Musicians Institute, California. She has also learnt "North Indian classical music", informs Kamal.


Not many know that she debuted as a playback singer at the age of six, in "Thevar Magan" (1992) and her first Bollywood playback came in "Chachi 420" (1998). Her second Hindi song came in "Hey Ram" (2000), in which she sung the bilingual versions of the title track "Rama Rama" with her father, in both Hindi and Tamil. She also made a brief appearance in "Hey Ram". Her last released film song was in Gautham Menon’s "Vaaranam Aayiram". Apart from singing, Shruti has also been a model and featured in magazines like "Frappe!" and "Verve". Shruti, who also heads the rock band Extramentals, has teamed up with childhood friend and actor Imran Khan in Soham Shah’s "Luck".


Apart from Bollywood, she is also making her debut as a music composer in "Thalaivan Irukkiraan", her father’s home production Rajkamal Films International’s remake of "A Wednesday" in Tamil and Telugu respectively. "She has already recorded a song for the film and it’s come out really well," said Kamal. On being asked if he guides his daughter on her career, Kamal said: "I don’t advise her nor do we discuss our films with each other. We do discuss films on the whole and the kind of music I want for my film - that’s it." Besides films, Shruti is also going to cut her debut album this year.
