Surya‘s Maatran is almost completed!

Surya starrer Maatran is almost completed. Directed by cinematographer – director KV Anand, the movie brings together Ayan team again. Surya, KV Anand and music composer Harris Jeyaraj team up for Maatran. Kajal Agarwal plays the female lead.

Shooting of this action thriller is being held in Chennai, after a brief schedule in Moscow, Russia making it one of the very few Indian movies to shoot there. Produced by AGS Entertainments in a grand manner, the movie will be completed soon.

When queried about the movie, Surya denied rumours that he is doing the role of conjoined twins in the film.

Basking in the glory of the success of 7am Arivu, Surya says, ‘ it is too early to talk about Maatran. We are shooting the film and KV Anand has come out with an excellent film with twists and turns. As usual there are enough commercial elements in the film.

After completing Maatran, Surya will venture to do a sequel to his previous hit Singam, to be directed by Hari again.

Suriya’s 7Aum Arivu releasing in July?

A.R. Murugadoss' much awaited 7Aum Arivu with Suriya and Shruti Haasan in lead role will reportedly grace theatres by July end. According to sources, film is made with a whopping budget of Rs. 84 crores. Interestingly, this is also the highest budget film in Suriya's career till date. Recently, producer Udayanidhi Stalin and director Murugadoss approached US based Stan Winston Studios, who has created some mesmerizing graphics in Cameroon's Avatar and Shankar's Enthiran, to do the visual effects. The star cast of 7Aum Arivu includes  Abhinaya, Avinash, Jai, and Johny Tri Nguyen. The technical team includes Harris Jayaraj (music), Ravi K. Chandran (cinematography) and Anthony Gonsalves (editing).

The film is based on the life of a circus artiste and Suriya plays the role of a trapeze artiste cum animal trainer. Sources reveal that Suriya will be seen in a dual role, playing a contemporary character in one scene and a Chinese monk (through flashback) in a previous birth.

Suriya will soon starts with KV Anand !

Suriya will begin shooting for Maatran sometime in June. To be directed by KV Anand, this mammoth project is generating a tidal wave of expectations even before work has started. Fresh from the resounding success of Ko, KV Anand has become one of the hottest directors in tinsel town and all eyes are on him.

Meanwhile, Suriya is currently wrapping up work on 7am Arivu and will turn his entire attention to Maatran once that is done. KV Anand is content to wait, soaking up the appreciation coming his way post Ko and putting the finishing touches on the script for Maatran. Suriya will be seen in five different avatars for this film and the hunt is on for the leading lady. Kajal Agarwal and Samantha are being considered, we hear.

Harris Jayaraj will team up with KV Anand to do the music for this film and Kalpathi S Aghoram will be the producer.

Kajal Agarwal pairing with Suriya!

Maatraan movie directed by KV Anand which will have Surya playing Siamese twins will have Kajal Agarwal in the lead says recent reports.

Earlier buzz was that Bollywood heroine will be roped in for the movie. KV Anand who is happy with the response of his recently released Ko, will start work on this project, once Surya completes his 7aam Arivu.

Kajal Agarwal who worked with Karthi in Naan Mahan Alla will be seen working with Surya if all goes well.

Expectations are high as after the blockbuster hit Ayan where the duo had worked together will be joining for his movie.

KV Anand says, “expectations would be really high. We have delivered a hit before. Audience would expect a lot from us. I hope with writers Subha and Suriya in my side, I can easily pull it off.”

Suriya will play a dual role in Maatran

If reports are to be believed, Suriya will play a dual role in Maatran. The film is to be directed by KV Anand and an official announcement regarding this project was made a couple of weeks ago. So, what is new about a dual role, one might ask. Being an actor who has tried out different things in his career and a brilliant director like KV Anand, who also has immense knowledge in cinematography, handling the megaphone, there is bound to some be fresh ideas that will have the movie buffs in awe.

Enquiries in Kollywood reveal that Suriya’s dual role is that of a Siamese Twins, which means a pair of identical twins born with conjoined body parts. Now, that is going to be a whole new experience for Suriya’s fans and challenging one for Suriya and KV Anand.

Surya as he loses his chance!

A Big disappointment for Surya as he loses his chance to Mahesh Babu… The film titled ‘The Businessman’ was supposed to be a trilingual movie made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi directed by famous Tollywood director Puri Jaganath, maker of original version of ‘Pokkiri’. The film was to be produced by Ram Gopal Varma under his banner. But now the offer has been bagged by Mahesh Babu and the shooting will take off from May 2011 once he completes shooting for his present project ‘Dookudu’ that has Samantha playing female lead role. Surya was to play the lead character of a gangster traveling from South India to Mumbai and his life story.

The film has a tagline that reads ‘Guns Don’t Need Agreement’. The details about film’s heroine and other crew members will be announced shortly.

Suriya & Shruti in Thailand for 7am Arivu!

For the last 10 days Suriya and Shruthi Haasan are shooting for AR Murgadoss directed 7am Arivu in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand.

Two days back they shifted to the cold and windy Hong Kong.

Some crucial scenes and a song composed by Harris Jayaraj are being shot by ace cameraman Ravi K Chandran.

Murgadoss is a fast worker and with this schedule nearly 75 percent of the film will be completed.

7am Arivu is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giants, and is one of the biggest movies on the floor.

It is said to be an action packed entertainer. Murgadoss feels his script will once again triumph, as the story is in a different genre.

Suriya got injured!

Suriya is always talked about as the next Kamal Haasan not just for his passion for acting but also for his dare devil risk taking.

Here is one more proof. Suriya who was shooting a vigorous action scene for ‘7am Arivu’ at Binny Mills decide to do a difficult action himself and got injured. Suriya got his ankle twisted and could not stand on his feet. The doctor was called immediately and after a check up the unit was relieved when the medical team said there is nothing to worry.

However, Suriya was advised a three days rest before resuming the shoot. We wish our Mr. Perfect a speedy recovery.

7AAM ARIVU GOES BACK 1500 YEARS

AR Murugadoss has planned for a special segment in the Suriya-starrer 7aam Arivu. Grapevine has it that this segment will go back 1500 years giving the movie a historical feel. Further, it is known that Suriya is playing gymnast/acrobat in the film. Since this requires the star to do some amazing circus stunts, he is undergoing training in Thailand where some of the best circus troupes in the world are camped.

7aam Arivu has Shruti Hassan playing the female lead and this film has created a strong expectation as it is the second outing together for Murugudoss and Suriya.

Rakht Charitra not to release in Tamil Nadu?

Reportedly Ram Gopal Varma's Rakht Charitra (Hindi version), starring Vivek Oberoi and Suriya, will not grace theatres in Tamil Nadu on October 22, 2010. But why? Suriya comes only in the last 10 minutes of Rakht Charitra 1. So the Tamil version, titled Rattha Charithram, will be released in one part only; Suriya will make his first appearance in the 35th minute and will dominate the film from then on. It will be a condensed version of the two parts in Hindi and Telugu and is all set to grace theatres on November 19, 2010.

So Ram Gopal Varma and his co-producer Madhu Mantena have decided not to reveal Suriya's look in Tamil Nadu before the release of the Tamil version.

Gautham Menon will wait for Suriya not for Ajith!

Gautham Menon is a busy man. He is busy finishing the shooting of Nadunisi Naigal, a thriller sans any songs.

His home banner is also producing films like Veppam directed by Anjana and Azhagar Samiyin Kuthirai directed by Suseenthiran. Gautham says that he will start work on the Hindi remake of Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya in the first week of September simultaneously with the Rana project.

When asked about his proposed film with Ajith, the director lashes out: “I was supposed to start the film but he went off for racing and when he came back, he was speaking to almost all directors and decided to go ahead with Venkat Prabhu. He asked me to wait till next year. But why should I wait for him?”

The outspoken director continues: “If I have to wait for an actor to do my film it has to be Kamal sir or my good friend Suriya. I want to work with people who have their head firm on their shoulder”.

Suriya's Raktha Charitra on September 17

Suriya's Raktha Charitra, being simultaneously made in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, has already created records even before its release. The overseas rights of the Tamil versions titled Rattha Charitram, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, has been sold for a record Rs 4.5 crores (over US $1 million)!

With this, Suriya has joined the elite 'Million dollar club of Tamil superstars' which includes Rajinikanth ($2.5 million), Kamal Haasan ($1.5 million) and Vijay ($ 1 million). It is the highest-ever overseas price paid for a Suriya film.

The latest buzz is that the Hindi version (Raktha Charitra), which was scheduled to release in August, will now grace theatres on September 17. There are also reports that RGV is planning to make the Hindi version in two parts and Tamil version as a single film. Reason: Suriya’s role will begin only towards the end of the first part of the film and hence the Tamil version will narrate the story from his perspective.

Shruti Haasan about 7aum Arivu!

Rubbishing reports that his upcoming trilingual 7am Arivu is a remake of Christopher Nolan's just released Inception, film-maker Murugadoss has stated in a recent interview, “It’s really absurd! These rumour mongers are coming up with such silly stories. I didn’t copy Inception.”

Interestingly, the film-maker's previous film Ghajini was based on Christopher Nolan’s Mementos. 7aum Arivu stars Shruti Haasan and Suriya in the lead roles.

Shruti Haasan, who is shooting in Coimbatore for the film along with Suriya, tweeted, "Clarification...!!! 7aum Arivu is NOT based on Inception.. Not at all.. Not in the slightest."

Ayan team is back

Kollywood’s leading production house AGS Entertainments, is all set to bring the blockbuster Ayan team of Suriya and KV Anand together in an all new action adventure.

Suriya and KV Anand are a deadly combo who set the screen on fire with their blockbuster Ayan will come together again for an untitled movie for AGS Entertainments.

The rest of the cast, crew and technicians are being finalized as the film would go to floors on February 2011.

AGS is an acclaimed production house, that has come out with hits like Thiruttu Payale, Masilamani, Santosh Subramaniam, Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam and the recent hit Madarsapattinam.

Kalpathi Agoram of AGS has made it clear that their new venture would be a big budget extravaganza.

Udhayanidhi Stalin joins up with same team

Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giants Production is on a high; the production house is all set to team up with Suriya again after the successful Aadhavan. Udhayanidhi Stalin will produce Suriya's upcoming flick directed by A.R. Murugadoss. Ravi K. Chandran is expected to handle the camera and Harris Jayaraj will be the music director. "Shooting will commence soon and plans are on to release the film by the end of this year," says the young producer.

When asked about his other production venture directed by K.S. Ravikumar with Kamal Haasan in the  lead, he says, "sir took me to the discussion room where I was stunned by his knowledge. He is a master of all subjects. We had discussions about 10 times so far. An official announcement will be made soon."

Sun Pictures to acquire the rights of Surya’s ‘Singam’

Surya’s ‘Singam’ is fast on the heels of completing post productions works while the producers are planning to release the film in April.

Meanwhile, buzzes are that Sun Pictures are holding talks with Studio Green Pictures to acquire the rights.When approached the closer sources of Sun Pictures, they blatantly mentioned that the production house is already occupied with lots of projects this year - Dhanush’s ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Maapillai’, Rajnikanth starrer ‘Endhiran’, Vijay’s ‘Sura’ and so on. So, there are no chances of scheduling this release.

But nothing has been confirmed directly from the both ends and we’ll have to wait and watch for the official confirmations pertaining to this deal. It’s worth mentioning that Studio Green Films’ producer Gnyanavel Rajan is none other than Surya’s uncle.

Suriya, the 'lion' king

Suriya is sure of scoring a hat-trick with 'Singam', his 25th film, after the back-to-back successes of 'Ayan' and 'Aadhavan'.

Teaming up with director Hari after 'Aaru' and 'Vel', Suriya plays a tough police officer who fights for a cause in the movie. Produced by Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green Productions. 'Singam' features Prakash Raj as the antagonist while Anushka plays Suriya's ladylove.

Says Hari, "both ‘Aaru’ and ‘Vel’ were commercial hits. We hope to make it three-in-a-row with ‘Singam’. Suriya had played a similar role in 'Kaakka Kaakka' earlier, but ‘Singam’ is being made differently. It will be more vibrant and action-packed."

He adds: "Suriya and Prakash Raj are coming together for the first time. Devi Sri Prasad has scored some peppy numbers and one of the duet songs choreographed by Brindha was shot in the exotic locales of Dubai."

Shruti opposite Suriya?

Bollywood grapevine is abuzz with rumours that Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti has signed a film opposite Suriya to be directed by AR Murugadoss.

Remember that there were rumours doing the rounds that Asin will be doing the film but now sources close to the director confirms that Shruti, is ready to be the heroine.

 Shruti she said: “Right now, it’s too early for me to deny or confirm about this project. I have to come down to Chennai and hear the script and then decide whether I should do it or not”.

Industry watchers feel that it is a dream debut for Shruti in Tamil as the film has a wonderful team like cameraman Ravi K.Chandran and music director Harris Jayaraj to be produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin.
