‘Vettaikkaran’ hunts for the villain in a market

Shoot for Vijay’s ’Vettaikkaran’ is going on in full steam in AVM Studios in the city. After a hectic schedule in Rajamundhary, the crew has proceeded to shoot in hotspots in the city, and is currently involved in a fight sequence shoot in AVM Studios. The fight sequences, which have always been a specialty in Vijay’s films and with Kanal Kannan as the stunt choreographer, who has become a star choreographer after his work for ’Ayan’, one expects a lot of breathtaking actions in the film. The set that has been erected for the film resembles a market place and has an elaborate chasing sequence, involving Vijay and villain Sri Hari.

’Vettiakkaran’ is being directed by Babusivan, and is said to be a pacy entertainer. To keep the action sequences interesting, the director and stuntmen are said to have taken a lot of care. ’Vettaikkaran’ sees Vijay pairing up with Anushka for the first time. The film has created a lot of hype already, being the actor’s 49th film. With this film being a year end release, the actor is said to begin his next venture in September this year.

Manirathinam’s ‘Raavana’ shelved for a day

Mani Ratnam

A tiff between local tourist operators and members of Film Employees Federation of South Indian over renting vehicles shelved a day’s shooting of ‘Raavana’ in Ooty. Nearly for more than a hour, Mani Rathnam and his crew had to wait at Ooty. Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, stunt director Peter Hein, Cinematographer Mani Kandan and other crewmembers were present there. The tourist taxi operators blocked FEPSI vehicles and demanded that they be given an opportunity to operate their vehicles for the shooting. The Film Employees Federation of South India stand is that only FEPSI members could operate the taxis was unjust because Rs 1 lakh had to be paid for FEPSI membership.

Finally, the issues were settled down amicably and shooting resumed. However, talks would be happening between producers council and FEFSI Association by end of this month.

Kushboo’s duet with Vijay

Vijay’s villu
Vijay’s introductory song in Prabhu Deva’s Villu will actually see him dancing with Kushboo! The team of producer Arun Pandian and music director Devi Sri Prasad came together for a soft audio launch at a radio station on Sunday (Nov 14). The film is slated for a Pongal release. Apparently, the filmmaker was originally keen on roping in Divya Spandana to do the item number, but the actress made it clear to him that she will not do a one-song act again. So, actress Khushboo, a confessed Vijay fan, was approached and the actress readily agreed to do the role.

That song will be the introductory song of Vijay which will surely be lapped up by his fans. Earlier, actresses like Shilpa Shetty, Meena, Nayanthara and Namitha had done one song appearances with Ilaya Thalapathy.

Deepika Padukone reprising the role played by Trisha

deepika padukone
Ghilli will be reportedly remade in Hindi soon, with Deepika Padukone reprising the role played by Trisha.

It might be quite possible. Because Ghilli, which has been the most successful film of Vijay so far, achieved a phenomenal success and even outdid its source film Okkadu’s (Mahesh Babu) box-office collections!

It is a great idea to cast Deepika Padukone - the young actress who has bewitched the entire Bollywood - in Trisha’s roles. She will definitely do justice to the role; she will be able to portray the vulnerability and ebullience displayed by Trisha in Ghilli to perfection.

Well, since Deepika is the heroine, will Ranbir Kapoor be the hero of this film? And what will Bollywood do to match the popularity of ‘Appadi Podu’, a song from Ghilli which compelled even Abhishek Bachchan to perform the famous and histrionic ‘kuthu’ (in one of the commercials of a cell phone)! Maybe, the man of the hour, Himesh will get a call to do compose a Bollywood equivalent!

PS: A while ago Abhishek Bachchan was seen shaking a leg to the wild tunes of ’Appadi Podu’ is a cell phone ad telecast in numerous satellite TV channels. The ad film became quite popular throughout the nation.
