Amala Paul replaces Anushka!

While reports suggest that Anushka has turned down the offer to play Venkatesh's love interest in Venkatesh-Mahesh Babu starrer Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (SVSC), it is now heard that producer Dil Raju has roped in Amala Paul for the same role.

After playing Naga Chaitanya's heroine in Bejawada, Amala Paul is currently doing Love Failure opposite Siddharth. If everything goes well, Amala Paul will play Venkatesh's wife in SVSC, directed by Srikanth Addala. Samantha is Mahesh Babu's heroine. SVSC was launched on October 7.

Anushka out ,Trisha in!

Director Siddique’s Bodyguard in Malayalam and Kaavalan in Tamil is to be remade in Hindi and Telugu as well. Salman and Kareena Kapoor will do the Hindi version, whereas Venkatesh and Trisha have been confirmed for the Telugu remake.

It was thought that Anushka will be roped in to star opposite Venkatesh but it looks like Trisha has landed this role. The actress herself has confirmed it. The shoot is scheduled to begin in April. She is confident that to bring in a unique identity to the role.

simbu’s Vaanam release date announced!

Vaanam has been in the making for quite some time now and Silambarasan’s fans are eager to catch their favorite star on screen after the success of Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya.

From the day Vaanam’s audio launch date, which is to be held on March 6th, 2011, was announced Silambarasan’s fans are eager to know about the film’s release date. Enquiries in Kollywood have revealed that the film may hit the silver screens on April 9th. The filmmakers intend to release Vaanam as soon as the Cricket World Cup is wrapped up and hence have decided on the said date, we are told.

Vaanam, which is the remake of the Telugu flick Vedam, is directed by Krish and stars Anushka, Bharath and Prakash Raj. Music has been scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Anushka moving to bollywood?

Looks like ‘Singam’ is taking Anushka to places. For the south Indian actress has been approached to play the heroine in the Hindi remake of the Suriya starrer, which has Ajay Devgn in the lead role.

Confirming this, director of the film Rohit Shetty says, “Yes, we are in talks with Anushka. But a decision has not been taken yet. Hopefully things will be finalised in a week’s time.”

It is said that the director of films such as ‘Golmaal’, ‘Golmaal Returns’ and ‘Golmaal 3’ was impressed with the actress’s performance when he watched ‘Singam’. “He feels Anushka had done a fantastic job,” sources say.

‘Singam’, one of the very few blockbusters of Tamil cinema in 2010, was dubbed and released in Telugu as ‘Yamudu’. It is being remade in Kannada as ‘Kempe Gowda’, with Sudeep playing the protagonist.

Recently we have reported that the music launch of Simbu's upcoming flick Vaanam will be held in London today. But due to some visa problem, the producers of Vaanam have postponed the audio launch. According to Vaanam's music director Yuvanshankar Raja, all the songs in the film are peppy and will surely rock the charts. The story evolves around five people, who meet in the climax of the film due to unforeseen circumstances.

Looks like Superstar's Enthiran has already created a new trend in Kollywood i.e. having audio launches abroad. The next to follow the trend is Sumbu's Vaanam, which is a remake of Telugu super hit Vedam.

Nadigar Sangam has issued a warning to Genelia, Anushka, Sameera Reddy, Kajal Agarwal, Hansika Motwani and a host of other actresses who did not register at the Sangam till date. In a letter to these actresses, the President of the Sangam, Sarath Kumar and General Secretary Radha Ravi stated that they should become a member soon or face a ban in Kollywood.

It has been reported that some members of the Nadigar Sangam visited the Uttama Puthiran shooting spot where scenes involving Genelia were being shot and demanded that she register as a member to continue acting in Tamil films. Vijay & Anushka in Pollachi!

is in Pollachi shooting for AVM (Balasubramaniam)’s Vettaikaran, directed by Babu Sivan.

It is a 10 day shoot during which some village scenes and a Kuthu song will be picturised on the lead pair Vijay and Anushka.

Vijay Antony has composed this number which is said to be rocking.

Meanwhile huge crowds from Kerala and Coimbatore areas are coming to the location to see Vijay. There have been rumours making the rounds that Vijay will form a political party, which has created a new buzz around the star.

Anushka stepping into bollywood

Following the footsteps of south heroines like Asin and Shriya, yet another south actress is all set to make it big in Bollywood. Gorgeous Anushka would be stepping into the world of Hindi Cinema with a movie which is going to be a remake of her Telugu blockbuster Arundhathi. The film did well at the box office, not only in the Telugu version but also when it was dubbed in Tamil and now the Hindi audiences would get a chance to cherish the great storyline of this flick. Earlier, Asin was preferred by Producer Madhu Mantena of Geetha Arts (Producer of Aamir’s Ghajini). But then, as the producer of Telugu version M Shyam Prasad decided to make his entry into Bollywood remaking this film, Asin was dropped from the option. Sonu Sood, who donned baddie role in Telugu version, will be performing the same role in this remake version too .

'Vettaikkaran' shooting in Chennai

The crew of Vijay’s ‘Vettaikkaran’ has returned to Chennai after a hectic shooting schedule in Rajamundhary, Andhra Pradesh. Following this, the crew has been spotted shooting in several places within Chennai, including Chennai and Adyar, for the next schedule. These scenes, however, involve only the Ilaya Thalapathy, as they are waiting for Anushka’s return. This is because Anushka, more popular as ’Arundhathee’ today, has returned to Andhra Pradesh to complete her important Telugu assignments, including ‘Varudhu’ with Mahesh Babu. ‘Vettaikkaran’, produced by AVM, is being directed by a former associate to Dharani, director Babu Sivan.

Has Anushka overtaken Nayantara?

She haute and smart, no doubt. And she has proved her mettle as an actress, in films like ’Arundhathee’. Anushka, simply put, seems to be Kollywood’s answer to beauty and brains, and the industry seems ready to pay the price for it. News about the actress demanding over a crore as remuneration for films doesn’t seem to be any rumour.


And, it seems like the producers don’t mind shelling that extra money for her. If this news is true, then it’s no secret that she has taken over both Nayantara and Ileana in terms of her fee. With the Tamil ’Billa’ giving Nayantara that fillip to join the big league, it remains to be seen if the same luck will smile on Anushka with the Telugu ’Billa’ too. ’Billa’ has already opened to rave reviews.
