Fans have myriad ways of expressing their adoration for their stars - some extreme. A few years ago, when the “Khushbu craze” was at it height, some fans built her a temple! Recently, some fans built two temples for Namitha. Now, it is the turn of Nayantara. A bunch of her ardent fans from Aravakurichi, Karur have planned to build a temple for her!
Reports say the construction is already underway and the temple will be declared open in a few months. Her fans in Aravakurichi say that they are absolutely devoted to Nayantara and their admiration for her began even during her fledgling days in Malayalam films!
But all this over-exaggerated display of admiration only embarrasses the actresses. In no way are they happy about this. They even try their best to dissuade their fans from doing something as dramatic as this.
Speaking of fans’ exaggerated reactions, this incident that occured about a decade ago in a theatre playing an MGR movie is worth sharing. An over-excited MGR fan got carried away watching his unarmed matinee idol battling the villain carrying a big sword. To help his icon, he threw a dagger he was carrying on the screen, hoping MGR would catch it!!!
Well, that funny incident only elicited laughter from his fellow audience, but sometimes things get too serious and the results are devastating. A few months ago, a fan was trampled to death in a mad rush to buy the first-day-first-show tickets of Kantri, a Junior NTR movie.
There are many similar incidents which go unreported. It is not wrong to admire someone, but one should know where to draw the line.
