Vijay’s 50th film director finalized?

Here is the latest update on the talk of the town - Vijay’s 50th film. Though Vijay is still busy with his Vettaikaran, his fans are keen to know more about this next venture, which is his landmark film. Vijay had mentioned in a recent press conference that Sangili Murugan will produce the venture. But there was no news about the director. Vijay and Sangili Murugan are discussing various options available to them and two names that are constantly coming up for consideration are KV Anand and SP Rajkumar. SP Rajkumar has Ponmanam to his credit and is currently busy with Azhagar Malai. The buzz in Kollywood is that he could pen the story for Vijay’s film and direct it as well. Tammanna is touted to play the female lead. Sources say the film could be titled Urimai Kural.

Sneha Namitha Lose Weight

The fatty beauty of the south, Namita shed seven kg for a police officer's role and same is the case with Sneha, who lost several kgs of weight.

Disclosing the secret behind the way to appear slim and trim, Sneha says, 'It is not that easy to lose weight by working and sweating out in gym by doing various exercises. It took almost eight months for me to reach this stage and to cut down seven kg. It is of no use if you work out and eating food with fat content. You should also maintain huge diet restrictions and work out in a perfect under the guidance of an efficient instructor to get expected results.'

Trisha to Star with Akshay

After a glittering career in the South, hot superstar Trisha will be making her way in Bollywood in a movie opposite Akshay Kumar, tentatively titled Khatta Meeta. It will be directed by Priyadarshan. “A lot of offers were coming my way, but I was waiting for the right film and I could not say ‘No’ to Priyan who is my mentor of sorts,” she explains, “I respect him as a film maker and he is also a good family friend. I don’t intend to move to Bollywood, but I’m definitely game to give it a try.” The former Miss India Beautiful Smile and three times winner of the Filmfare South Best Telegu Actress Award was educated in Chennai and debuted in Lesa Lesa in 2002. She won her Best Actress Awards for Varsham, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana and Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule. Although she has won more awards in Tollywood, the Tamil actress has in fact made more movies in Kollywood.

She will, however, be returning to Hyderabad in the near future to star in Shankam, in which she will appear opposite Gopi Chand. She denies having a preference for Kollywood. “Telugu films will remain special to me as I have been treated like a queen in Tollywood and offered meatier roles,” she says, “Besides, I have always struck a balance between Tamil and Telugu films - so I have two Telugu and Tamil films on the floor right now.” Trisha’s popularity in the South is so extraordinary that tens of thousands have signed up in her name, some have even wanted to build a temple in her honour - but she would prefer them to take a more socially conscious approach. “I have more than a 1,000 fan clubs but I urge them to do social service instead of promoting my films,” she advises, “These club members donate blood and visit old-age homes. I have joined a few programs these clubs have organised and went to some cancer hospitals on my birthday.”

Asin bags Best debut award at IIFA 2009

Asin Thottumkal won the Best Debut Female Award for her role Ghajini at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) 2009 awards at Macau. Thousands of specatators and fans had gathered to get a glimpse their favourite stars, and Asin walked the red carpet leading to the event auditorium. Asin, the queen who stole many hearts, shot to fame all over India with Ghajini in Hindi opposite Aamir Khan.

She is also remembered for her great performance in Dasavathaaram opposite Kamal Haasan. Millions of people around the world watched the Award show which was attended by many bigwigs of Bollywood. The IIFA Award ceremony is one of the biggest celebrations of Indian cinema, and this year was no different! Asin started off with Tamil cinema, and is today on the front cover of every top magazine. We congratulate Asin on her win at IIFA and hope that she would continue to wow audiences in all her forthcoming projects.
