Karthi’s Siruthai trailer launched

The trailer and website launch of Studio Green's Siruthai was a grand affair at the Satyam cinemas on Sunday morning.

The entire event looked like a family affair with warmth and good wishes emanating for the Suriya-Karthi pair by all the dignitaries on the dais.

While Lingusamy launched the website, Gautham Menon launched the trailer, in the presence of chief guest Suriya. The event was one of the rare ones where the heroine of a film is present, with Tamannaah looking resplendent in a sari. The trailer and two songs were screened for the audience.

While one song had Karthi in nine get ups with Santhanam, the other was a love melody shot in Phuket between the lead pair.

The music director Vidyasagar revealed how choosy director S Siva was about the music while Suriya said, "I am waiting to work in a film with Vidyasagar but Karthi has reached there before me. Even now when I run on the treadmill I hear only his music for that extra energy to run."
He added, "We normally keep photos of gods or family members on our mobile phones but Karthi kept Ravi Teja̢۪s pic on his phone for one year, just to get the nuance of his cop role right from the Telugu original of this film. He does comedy effortlessly and this is a big plus in the film. I am sure Siruthai will be ten times more than Singam."

Jeyam Raja praised the Suriya- Karthi brothers team while producer Ravindran described the film as a feast for the public, exhibitors and distributors this Pongal. Director Rajesh said, "This is like a double promotion for Karthi who is doing a dual role."

Karthi added, "This is a dream film for me. While playing the cop however, I tried hard not to look like Suriya in Singam. Director Siva has worked on the script for more than a year to get it right and Vidyasagar̢۪s music will be a hit. I am grateful to the entire team for putting this film together."

Producer Gnanavel Raja came in for much praise from one and all for giving quality films so far. The event was attended by Parthiban, Shanmugam, SP Muthuraman, A Jagannathan, Prabu Solomon, Subhash C Bose, Anbu Chezhiyan, Vijay,  Rajeevan and cameraman of the film, Velraj,  amongst others.

Tamannah’s speech in Tamil was praised by Suriya who lauded her hard work to reach the top.

“Because I know what the truth is. We are just colleagues and we are going to act together in another film too. I can’t achieve my goals if I am bothered by these mindless rumours,” she says.

Saying she is not answerable to those spreading ‘rumours’ on her, Tamanna says the two persons she is accountable to are her mother and father. “They know pretty well what’s happening in my life.”

“The support from my parents has made me achieve something,” she says and adds: “But I am aware that there is still a long way to go. My aim is that I should act in all kind of roles before I call it a day.”

Bharath,Tamanna’s Kanden Kadhalai movie review

Movie

    Cast
Bharath, Tamannaah, Santhanam

Movie Review

kanden-kadhalai-movie-stills-images
First thing first, Kanden Kadhalai presented by Sun Pictures is fun unlimited, heart warming in its sincerity and a romantic romp.

However don’t expect it to be a carbon copy of the Imtiaz Ali original, as director R.Kannan has made it to suit the taste of the mass Tamil audiences.

So a brand new character in the form of Santhanam is added to the plot and no two ways about it, he is a scream as Mokaraj. The two likeable leads Bharath and Tamannaah makes the film work, especially the sparks that fly between them when they meet in the train and a series of well conceived incidents that slowly bring them together.

Two strangers , Sakthi Rajasekharan (Bharath) a young businessman and Anjali (Tamannaah) who are brought together by destiny in a train and how love blossoms between them. Sakthi is dejected and depressed as the girl he loved was getting married to someone else.

Unable to muster courage, to face the world he runs away and aimlessly boards a train. For company he has Anjali, a pretty chatterbox who is going home to Theni to break to her family the news about her love for Gautham Menon(Munna). Irritated by her continuous chattering, Sakthi gets off the train but soon he finds that she is back to bug him. What follows next is how their life, feelings, outlook and destiny changes as they slowly fall in love.

The first half of the movie succeeds in capturing your attention with splitting comedy and fast paced sequences when Anjali takes Sakthi to her home in Theni. The pace slackens post interval as the movie takes a dramatic leap with Anjali’s return into a reformed and more committed Sakthi’s life after nine months.

However the Tamil remake lacks the magic of the original, and is a bit slow paced in the second half. Funny and full of life, it is Tamannaah who is the heart and soul of this love story. She has come up with a live wire performance and the magic of the film lies in her performance. She may not pass off as a Thevar girl from Theni but no actress in Tamil cinema could play Anjali better than Tammu. Bharath’s understated and mature performance provides a perfect foil to Tamannaah’s bubbly character. Santhanam brings the house down with his funny one liners and goof-up’s.

PG Muthiah’s camera is first class, especially the Theni locations. Pattukottai Prabhakaran’s dialogues and Vidyasagar’s music is just ok, can’t be compared to the original. What works for the film is its simple charm and it’s immensely likeable lead cast. KK is a cute love story which reaches directly to your heart and good fun while it lasts.
