Jyotika celebrates birthday

Jyotika celebrated another very happy birthday in the bosom of her loving family in Chennai. Born on October 18, 1978 as Sadhana to film producer Chander Sadanah and Seema Sadanah in Mumbai, she was preceded to Kollywood by sister Nagma, who was also one of the leading heroines of her day.

Doli Saja Ke Rakhna opposite Akshay Khanna was her first movie. Though that didn’t pan out, she was noticed by Kollywood and her first movie as a full-fledged heroine was Poovellam Kettuppar opposite Suriya, who later wooed and married her in September 2006.

One of the few fairy-tale marriages between two equally famous actors, the Suriya-Jyotika marriage is the stuff of dreams. Blessed with a daughter, Diya, who celebrated her first birthday a while ago, this couple is still as much in love as the day they first met!

Unlike many other heroines who quit films only after their first flush of success is over, Jyotika stepped into matrimony when she was at the very peak of her career, thus leaving her fans wanting more. Both submitted mutual consent to end the 7 year-old relation, Now Chennai family court on Friday allowed actress Urvasi and her husband, actor Manoj K Jayan to divorce.

Both the stars entered wedlock in 2000, that they had started with a brief period of love affair.The two have a daughter named Thejalakshmi from their marriage. Right now, Manoj and his parents have the custody of his daughter Thejalakshmi.

Madhavan's Guru En Aalu postponed to November!

Guru En Aalu,the film that was censored first among Diwali releases has been postponed to November. This Madhavan- Mamta- Abbas- Vivek starrer is directed by Selva and produced by KRG.

The film which has been cleared by the censors with a ‘UA’ certificate, was originally supposed to release for Diwali on October 27. They had made booking with Chennai city theatres, and had issued newspaper ads.

But since there was acute theatre shortage outside Chennai, it had to be cancelled. A festival like Diwali can accommodate only three big movies- Aegan, Vaaranam Aayiram, Seval in Tamilnadu theatres.

Silambattan Audio from yesterday

The audio launch of Silambarasan’s Silambattam is set to happen yesterday. Mumbai model Sanaa Khan has been paired with Simbu in his upcoming film ‘Silambattam’.

The song Nalam Thana is not a complete remix of the old Shivaji Ganesan Number. There are only a few words used from the old hit song. The song Where is da party is said to be a foot tapping number. The movie also has a remix of the Nallavankku Nallavan song Vechikkava Unna. Besides these, Ilayaraja has also lent his voice for one of the songs of the movie.

Silambattam is produced by Lakshmi Movie Makers. Directed by cinematographer-turned-director Saravanan, and has Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the music for the movie.

Muktha held a press conference in Ernakulam

Actress Muktha held a press conference in Ernakulam Press Club on Wednesday in response to her father’s allegations that she and her mother were trying to push him out of the house when he opposed Muktha acting in glamorous roles.

The actress was visibly upset and burst into tears when she narrated her side of the story. She said that from childhood she was paying for the negligence from her father and that her father K.M. George abandoned her family when they were children. Muktha’s mother brought them up with the help of her uncles. She recollected how father used to torture her mother. And then one day he deserted them for no reason. When Muktha started acting in cinemas, despite all that happened, she took initiative to call him back hoping that he would be a changed man. But now she thinks that was a foolish decision.

She accused that he is purposefully tarnishing her image. "I don’t know why he is spreading such a bad image. Any father won’t say such things against a daughter. I don’t believe that cinema field is an arena to become bad for girls. If we want to go that way, there are several ways to become bad. I am not in that way. My mother is always with me. I don’t know how I can adjust with this type of behaviour from my father. He is spoiling my future. This is too much.’’.

She also alleged that George took all her life savings from her as the bank accounts were in his name. It was her father who prompted her to wear skimpy clothes for a Tamil film. Muktha’s mother also attended the press conference.

Mani Rathnam got new authorization

Now Mani Ratnam will not have to go to the lush forests of Sri Lanka to recommence the shooting of his ambitious bilingual project having Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Southern super star Vikram in the lead roles.

The Kerala Forest Department has given new permission to continue the shooting inside the Malyatoor forest which can be reached after a two hour journey from the city of Cochin.Earlier the officials of the Forest Department had canceled the permission after it was found out that the crew had constructed small huts without consulting the officials in the highly sensitive terrain. The company producing the film had also built some shooting sets inside the forest.

The justification given by the production crew of the film was that the huts were made for protecting the highly expensive equipments used for the shooting from the rain.Some strict conditions accompany the new sanction given for the continuation of the shooting.

Earlier only Rs.1000 was the amount that was being charged by the Forest department for a period of 20 days to shoot inside the forest.Now the financier of the film will have to give Rs.10,000 for a single day of production work.

The numbers of vehicles used inside the forest have to be reduced and the crew also has to take care of not littering any materials made of plastic inside the jungle.

Suriya's 'Varanam Aayiram' release postpones

The release of ‘Varanam Aayiram’ would not be for this Deepavali as expected ardently and probably the movie would hit the screens on the first week of November. In this film, Suriya plays dual roles and his characters will be known as Krishna and Suriya. Simran, Sameera Reddy, Divya Spandana play the heroines.

The film announced with a budget of 14 crores has drawn inspirations from the Hollywood movie ‘Forrest Gump’ starring Tom Hanks and has been made in a way to suit the Indian audience.

Gautham Vasudev Menon regarding the title once stated that they did not deliberately attempt to name the movie with a Tamil title. The title, which is a phrase from Andal’s ‘Thiruppavai’, was found to be synonymous with the storyline of the movie and thereby it was picked. ‘Varanam Aayiram’ literally means the strength of thousand elephants.

The film has seven songs composed by Harris Jayaraj. The songs from the albums were released to four leading FM stations in Chennai, with one song per station, in attempt to popularize it five days before the official launch.

With the Suriya-Gautham duo coming back after the blockbuster Kaakha Kaakha(2003), and with Harris Jayaraj’s music, Suriya appearing in different get ups with three glamorous ladies, ’Varanam Aayiram’ is much worth waiting till this november and it would sure become the hottest film in Kollywood trade circuit.

Aish to learn the basics of Classical music

Mani Rathnam’s next bilingual film has not been titled yet for its Tamil Version which has Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Prithviraj, Priya Mani, Prabhu in the cast. In both the Hindi (Ravana) and Tamil versions of the film, Aishwarya plays the lead role as a Brahmin girl with a sound knowledge about classical music.

As the name ’Mani Rathnam’ guarantees perfection in each and every feature of the film, the director wanted Aish to learn the basics of Classical music, so that it would be conducive to best render the performance in her role. It is well-known that Mani Rathnam seldom compromises and never accepts a ’No’ for an answer; the actress has obliged to the director’s prerequisite and has started learning Carnatic music from an expert.

As Amitabh Bachchan was hospitalized on his birthday October 11, 2008, following an abdominal pain, the actress is presently in Mumbai and would take part in shoot only after his complete recovery.

Sneha's birthday grand celebration

Surya in double roles in 'Vaaranam Aayiram'

While the world awaits the release of Vaaranam Aayiram with bated breath, its makers have decided to dub the film in Telugu. Vaaranam Aayiram, starring Surya, of Ghajini fame with a galaxy of heroines (Simran, Sameera Reddy, Divya Spandana and Trisha), is directed by Gautham Menon and produced by Aascar Ravichandran under his ubiquitous Aascar Films.

In Telugu, this 2-year long project will be titled as Surya s/o Krishnan. Though rumoured to be Gautham Menon"s life story, the makers have said that this is a work of pure fiction. Gautham Menon, who directed Kaaka Kaaka, which was dubbed in Telugu as Gharshana, is expected to give another winner. Surya has a dream role where he plays both father and son. One part of the movie is Kirshnan"s (the father) flashback and how he meets his wife, Malini (Simran). The other part of course, follows Surya junior"s life as he meets the women in his life and learns some love lessons.

Composed by Harris Jayaraj, the Telugu audio will be released on Vijaydasmi eve by SVR Media in a glittering ceremony and all the Telugu film industry royalty have been invited to this much vaunted event. The Tamil audio released last month has already been declared a hit and is a mix of genres from classical to modern compositions.

Aishwarya Rai:"'It was great working with Rajinikanth"

Aishwarya Rai, who is working with Rajinikanth for ’Robot’ can’t stop gushing about the actor. ’It was great working with Rajinikanth, who is a brilliant actor. The only tough thing about the movie was studying Tamil again in order to pronounce the words properly,’ she said.

’Robot’ directed by Shankar brings together Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai for the first time. A couple of song sequences were shot recently in Peru. Says Aishwarya,” Shankar had approached me previously to work with him, but could not be materialized. Finally, everything landed in place and here we are together after ten years.”

Other than this, the actress will soon start acting for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ravana’ with her husband Abhishek Bachchan. “I don’t want to reveal much about it but in another 10 days, we will start shooting for the movie. I am looking forward to working again with Mani,” she added in an interview to a news agency.

Namitha refuses to talk about marriage

Namitha, the buxom beauty of Tamil film industry recently evaded the question of marriage in a press conference.

When question regarding her marriage was raised she politely said no comments on it. Few years ago during her initial days in the tinsel world, Namitha had a close relationship with a photographer. But after a few months she discontinued the relationship and started concentrating on her career.

When the question of her marriage was asked Namitha said that she is not interested in answering these kind of questions and her whole mood was changed after that. She told that the media wrote against her that she had got married to somebody. "It hurts me a lot. But I don’t have any wrath against the media. They are my good friends… I’m taking this sportively" said Namitha.

Namitha is presently shooting for her Jaganmohini and is said to be pining a lot of hopes in the remake film. The original version of the same had created history in the box office.According to film pundits, this is the first film in Tamil film industry which will have a lot of investments poured in on a heroine oriented subject. Since, the film is full of masala elements the producer is liberal in investing.

Charmi getting more offers

Charmi will play the lead role in a film to be made by Rajashekar. The film is just one of three films planned for production by Rajashekar, who is one of the producers of Yamagola Malli Modalayyindi. Srikanth and Venu are said to be the heroes, though official confirmation is awaited. The hero is yet to be finalized. Pawan will direct this film and Devi Sri Prasad will score the music. The film will in all probability start regular shooting schedules in November and Fame Entertainments banner will be producing it.

Right now, Charmi’s 16 Days where she has performed a daring kiss, is on the anvil. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music for this under-production movie. More details about the director, cast and crew will be given as soon as they are finalized.

Charmi is also busy with Kausalya Supraja Rama (KSR), Mayagadu and Manorama. All three are expected to be released very soon, making Charmi’s fans more than happy.

Nakul in Devayani production

After the resounding success of Nakul with the film ’Kathalil Vizhunden’, producers are forming a beeline to cast the young hero in their films. One among the producers is Devayani, sister of Nakul. It is known that Devayani who fell in love with director Rajakumaran and married him much against the wishes of her parents was disowned by them. However, her brother Nakul was in constant touch with the couple visiting them often.

Nakul’s recognition as an actor to reckon with has pleased Devayani and her husband immensely. Devayani has gone on to announce that she would venture to make a film that will star her kid brother and directed by her husband. However information as to when the project would start is not clear.

Thanks to the aggressive promotion by Sun Network and the racy number ’Naaku Mukka’, the film was successful in garnering wide publicity that translated itself to expectations.
