Reportedly, the first song of ace director Shankar's next project, a remake of Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots (Rascals?), has been composed by leading music composer Harris Jayaraj.
"The first tune has been given to Shankar for 3 Idiots. The film will have Mahesh Babu in Telugu and Vijay in Tamil," the music composer was quoted as saying. After Anniyan (2005), this is the second time Harris Jayaraj is working with Shankar.
Tollywood sensation Ileana is likely to play Kareena Kapoor's role in both Tamil and Telugu versions, produced by Gemini Film Circuit. Notably, this is the first time Shankar is attempting a remake exercise and this is his first direct Telugu film in his 17 year film career. Manoj Paramahamsa of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya fame will handle the camera.
AR Murugadoss has planned for a special segment in the Suriya-starrer 7aam Arivu. Grapevine has it that this segment will go back 1500 years giving the movie a historical feel. Further, it is known that Suriya is playing gymnast/acrobat in the film. Since this requires the star to do some amazing circus stunts, he is undergoing training in Thailand where some of the best circus troupes in the world are camped.
7aam Arivu has Shruti Hassan playing the female lead and this film has created a strong expectation as it is the second outing together for Murugudoss and Suriya.
A press note from Va – Quarter Cutting team has this to say about the movie: “The whole story is set in a single night, with Chennai’s nightlife as the back drop with its varied texture from late night food joints, prostitutes, poster boys, night patrol cops, gangsters, political meetings, religious processions, biker boys to illegal gambling dens and ultra elite rave parties.”
The script of Va – Quarter Cutting is set in a single night and hence the film was shot only during the night. It is touted to be a racy entertainer in which Sura (Shiva) has to spend a night with his future brother-in-law, played by SP Charan, though both of them are not in good terms. Lekha Washington is the leading lady in this film.
Produced by Sashikanth of Y Not Studios, this film will be distributed by Dayanidhi Alagiri. GV Prakash has scored the music for this film. Nirav Shah is in-charge of the camera.
Reportedly Ram Gopal Varma's Rakht Charitra (Hindi version), starring Vivek Oberoi and Suriya, will not grace theatres in Tamil Nadu on October 22, 2010. But why? Suriya comes only in the last 10 minutes of Rakht Charitra 1. So the Tamil version, titled Rattha Charithram, will be released in one part only; Suriya will make his first appearance in the 35th minute and will dominate the film from then on. It will be a condensed version of the two parts in Hindi and Telugu and is all set to grace theatres on November 19, 2010.
So Ram Gopal Varma and his co-producer Madhu Mantena have decided not to reveal Suriya's look in Tamil Nadu before the release of the Tamil version.
Recently we have reported that the music launch of Simbu's upcoming flick Vaanam will be held in London today. But due to some visa problem, the producers of Vaanam have postponed the audio launch. According to Vaanam's music director Yuvanshankar Raja, all the songs in the film are peppy and will surely rock the charts. The story evolves around five people, who meet in the climax of the film due to unforeseen circumstances.
Vaanam also has Anushka, Bharath, Vega, Prakashraj, Sonia Aggarwal, Jayaprakash and Ganesh in prominent roles. The film is expected to grace theatres in December.
Mallika Sherawat is all praise for Shruthi Haasan and says the first daughter of Kamal Haasan has taken a song in ‘Hisss’ to the next level. “Shruthi is brilliant and awesome,” the Bollywood bombshell says.
“Shruthi even wrote beautiful lyrics in English. She is a major talent and it was amazing to watch her work. I believe she would scale great heights in music and movies,” Mallika adds.
The ‘Dasavatharam’ actress, who is donning the role of a snake-woman in ‘Hisss,' offered prayers at the popular Sree Nagaraja Temple at Mannarasala in Kerala on Monday ahead of the film's release.
In a brief chat with journalists, Mallika said she had the best of hopes for the movie, which will be released worldwide on Friday. “I’m very excited. It’s such a special film and I’m really anxious for everyone to finally see it,” she said.
”I have come here to give my respects to the Snake God. It's after 24 years that a film on naag-naagin is coming up, so I prayed that the film does well,” Mallika added.

She wants to take proper care during her pregnancy, and avoid doing anything that stresses her body. Her producers allowed her to terminate the contract. She has been staying a lot in Kolkata, and has been travelling abroad too. Since this is an early stage of her pregnancy, the bump is not very visible and Koko wants to keep this news a secret for as long as she can”.

She was touted to be the leading lady in Lingusamy directed Vettai but when reports last came in, Tamanna, after hearing script narration is yet to sign on the dotted line.
Sources close to the unit say that Tamanna was bowled over by the script but asked for a whopping salary, which the producers feel, is not viable.
Moreover, it was Lingusamy who gave her that super hit Paiyya early this year and the director was peeved when she demanded this salary.
So, Cloud Nine the producers of the film are looking out for an alternative.

In the film Mammootty would play the role of a police officer who is investigating the murder of a young man who had come to Mumbai to sing the track in a film, along with a famous playback singer.
As per sources close to the director, Mammootty as the investigating police officer in the film would meet ARR in a scene. However ARR is yet to confirm the news.
If reports are to be believed, popular Malayalam director Rajeev Kumar, one of the closest associates of veteran actor Kamal Haasan, has approached emerging actress Shruthi Haasan with a powerful female character in his forthcoming Malayalam film Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty, which is about the life of a girl transforming into a reality show!
The grapevine is that Rajeev, who directed Chanakyan with Kamal Haasan and Jayaram in the lead, narrated the script to Kamal when he recently visited the actor in Chennai. Reportedly, Kamal found it very impressive and even told Shruthi to go through the script. Whether Shruthi will accept the offer remains to be seen!
The music of Kamal Haasan's Manmadhan Ambu is all set to be launched on October 22, 2010. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music for this film produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under Red Giant Movies banner. Trisha will team up with Kamal Haasan for the first time in their careers. Madhavan, Sangeetha and Oviya will also play a prominent role in the film directed by K.S. Ravikumar.
The film will grace theatres on December 10, 2010.

The audio launch of director Mithran K. Jawahar's Dhanush - Genelia starrer Uthama Puthiran, a remake of Telugu super hit Ready, will be held in Chennai on October 5.
The film, starring Bhagyaraj, Jayaprakash and Vivek in important roles, has already wrapped up the shoot. Produced by Balaji Studios Pvt. Ltd, Uthama Puthiran is Dhanush's third movie with Jawahar. The film has tremendous title value, as it is a Sivaji Ganeshan super hit title of the 1960s.
Looks like South Indian beauty Asin is in trouble again! When the actress reached Mettupalayam recently for the shooting of Vijay's Kaavalan, four persons staged a black flag demonstration against her. The people were protesting against the actress for visiting Sri Lanka, despite a ban imposed by the South Indian Association. Finally the police intervened and solved the matter.
Earlier, the SIFCC has also decided to boycott Bollywood actors and technicians who performed at the IIFA awards in Sri Lanka, following allegations of genocide against Lankan Tamils during the war against the LTTE and the continuing discrimination against them.
Ilayathalapathy Vijay has almost completed the shoot of his 51st film Kaavalan (remake of Malayalam hit Bodyguard) directed by Siddique.
Vijay has already started working for his next film Velayudham directed by Jayam Raja. Vijay Anthony is expected to compose the music; it will be produced by Aascar Ravichandran. Bubbly Genelia and Hansika Motwani are the heroines.
Genelia D'Souza will play the role of a journalist, while Hansika Motwani will be a village belle. Santhanam and Sathyan take care of the humour element. Velayudham will grace theatres in summer 2011.
Nayanthara is all smiles after she completed her first ad shoot for Pothys at Sun studios in Chennai, where a major portion including two songs of Enthiran was shot.
Added to that the cameraman for this ad shoot was Ratnavelu and make up was done by Banu both who are a part of Enthiran team.
However the icing on the cake for Nayan was when superstar Rajinkanth visited her sets and spoke to her. Rajini who was shooting on another floor of the studio for Enthiran promotion on Sun TV walked into the sets where the Pothys ad shoot was happening and exchanged pleasantries with everyone.
Girija Raghavan the consultant publicist of Pothys told : “Nayanthara is the brand ambassador for our designer sarees which we are launching for Diwali. It is one the most expensive shoots that we have done so far. The classy set which resembled an art gallery was designed by Selva (of Madhrasapattinam fame). Motion control camera operated by foreign technicians under the guidance of Scott was used to show multiple Nayanthara’s in a single frame, something which is done for the first time in an ad shoot.”
The stills were shot by ace cameraman Venkat Ram and styling was done by Chaitanya Rao. This innovative ad will be aired from this week on television, Adds Girija: “Nayanthara is hot and happening. She represents the modern and glamourous girl of today and is the perfect choice who can be identified with our designer sarees”.

The young actor who is shooting for brother Selvaraghavan’s film took off from work like many people to watch back-to-back shows in Chennai.
He saw the first show at 7 am at Albert theatre followed by 2pm show at Devi and finally for the third time at the red-carpet premiere at Sathyam cinemas. And the buzz is that he saw the film with the audience and did not prefer box seats.
A visibly excited actor says with a smile: “I watched the film three times on Friday and it was robot day for me. This film is history. I am a huge Rajini rasikan and it was such a fantastic experience to watch the superstar in an awe-inspiring performance. The fantastic art direction and special effects kept me glued to the seats.”
