Nayantara with Karthi in 'Paiya'

Director Lingusamy has thrashed all rumours that actress Nayantara is no longer part of his pet project Paiya, saying that Nayan is very much part of the project. The hero is Karthi, who is currently busy with Ayirathil Oruvan directed by Selvaraghavan. Karthi has disclosed that as soon as he winds up Ayirathil Oruvan, he will start shooting for Paiya.

Nayantara is basking in the glory of being known as the queen of South India and her hands are full with big budget projects. Karthi, on the other hand, is very careful in choosing films after his highly successful debut in Paruthiveeran. The film brought him fame, accolades and honours. He garnered the Filmfare Best Actor award and was nominated for the National Award (Best Actor) for his stunning performance in the film. Apart from Paiya, he has also signed another film, Neeyum Naanum.

Lingusamy’s home production, Thirupathi Brothers, is currently producing a couple of films including Pattalam in which Nadhiya and a bunch of newcomers play the main roles.

Asin- The brand ambassador for Tata Sky

Asin was on a house boat in Punnamada Lake in Alapuzha, one of the top holiday destinations in Kerala, where the annual Nehru Trophy boat race happens. The cherubic actress was not holidaying there but instead shooting an ad for Tanishq for which she is the brand ambassador (see pic).

For Asin, it was a sort of home coming as she was continuously shooting in various parts of the globe for the last one year. The lush green areas surrounded by paddy fields and stretches of coconut palm groves was indeed a welcome change for the actress who got a chance to be away from the hustle bustle of city life. Asin stayed in Alapuzha for two days before she is flying back to Mumbai via Chennai to attend another press meet arranged by Cavin Kare. And the big news is that she has signed her eighth endorsement deal with Tata Sky DTH for which she will be shooting an ad commercial with Aamir Khan.

The buzz is that Asin has been signed up by Tata Sky for a record endorsement deal as they want to cash in on the hype and hoopla around the Ghajini pair coinciding with the release of the film on December 25.

Rajinikanth shoots in Prashanth's place

The shooting for the Rajinikanth starrer ’Endhiran’ which is directed by Shankar is progressing in and around Chennai.

In spite of heavy rains, director Shankar has opted to go ahead with the shooting on Wednesday. Amidst tight security, the crew is reportedly shooting at a jewelery house owned by actor Prashanth which is located in T. Nagar, Chennai. Since Aishwarya Rai is busy shooting for the Mani Ratnam movie, scenes involving Rajinikanth are being shot.

Shooting for the movie is on at a rapid pace. The movie stars Aishwarya Rai opposite Rajinikanth and is produced by Ayngaran International. The film has musical score by A R Rahman.Interestingly, some important sequences were shot in Europe followed by one schedule in Goa.

Malavika wants to be a good mother

Actress Malavika gave birth to a baby boy in Mumbai on Tuesday. The actress got married to Suresh last year in Bangalore. Both the child and mom are healthy, according to Suresh.Malavika was one of the sought-after actresses in Kollywood acting alongside almost all the top heroes. She had been part of several films including 'Chandramukhi', 'Vasoolraja MBBS', 'Perazhagan', 'Unnai Thedi' among others. She won a name for herself in Tollywood where she worked in a slew of films.

Shriya as Akshay Kumar's heroine!

Komagata Maru is an epic film based on a true story surrounding the voyage of a Japanese ship by the name ’Komagata Maru’ hired by people from Punjab led by Gurdit Singh from Hong Kong to Vancouver in 1914 with 376 passengers on board seeking a new life in the promised land.

It is a journey of one man’s courage that challenged the largest empire in the world. It bears open the heroism of Gurdit Singh, who dares to have an impossible dream- a life of freedom, equality, and dignity. The film also depicts the martyrdom of Mewa Singh.

Akshay Kumar has confirmed that he will be playing the lead Gurdit Singh, in this collaboration with Deepa Mehta. Talks are going on with various other actors including Hollywood top stars making this truly an international project on a budget of $35 to 40 million being produced by Hamilton-Mehta Production Inc. in association with Akshay Kumar’s home production, Hari Om Entertainment.

Nakul and Sunaina together again

AGS Entertainment, which has rendered blockbusters including ’Thiruttu Payalae’ and the ’Jayam’ Ravi starrer ’Santhosh Subramaniyam’, will be commencing their next film titled ’Masilamani’ soon.

The movie brings together the success couple Nakul and Sunaina together again. The two had teamed up to render a hit in ’Kadhalil Vizhunthein’. R N R Manohar has penned the story, screenplay, dialogues and will be directing ’Masilamani’.

Santhanam, Srinath, Delhi Ganesh and Meera Krishnan are also in the cast. D Imman scores the music, while cinematography is by Vettri.

Vijay will play dual role (father and son) in the film “Villu”

After the super hit “Pokkiri” movie actor Vijay and Director Prabhudeva is planning to give another magical movie with their current project “Villu”. As already known the movie is inspired from the Hindi movie “Soldier” starring Bobby Deol and Priety Zinta in the lead. According to a source that the script suggests that Vijay will play dual role (father and son) in the film. The son will be the central character of the film that is out for clearing malicious charges made against his dad’s name. Actress Ranjitha is playing as a wife Vijay’s (Daddy) character. Actress Nayanthara is playing the role of hero’s arm candy. Director Prabhu Deva has made the movie with the exact proportion of humor, actions, sentiments and songs which are the essentials of a successful commercial movie.

Last time when actor Vijay done a double role for “Azhagiya Tamil magan” movie which most of the reviewers criticise that actor Vijay is not meant for double roles. Hope actor Illayathalapathy Vijay will prove them wrong with the movie “Villu”.

Rajinikanth's Enthiran- Rain plays spoilsport

It is an operation that is being carried out stealthily. Last week Rajinikanth was shooting for Shankar’s Enthiran in various locations in Chennai city. But this week the shoot has been cancelled due to heavy rain in Chennai and suburbs.

After many years the superstar is shooting in Chennai city where he does not like to shoot as he gets mobbed. Shankar and his unit is keeping it a hush-hush affair, and always changing the schedule.

If they are shooting in North Chennai in the morning, by afternoon they would have moved on to Tiruvanmayur in south.

This keeps the paparazzi away who are looking to take pictures and post them on the net. There are no huge caravans near the shooting spot, as the superstar is said to be using an old Toyota Qualis van as his mobile make-up room.

As per original schedule the shoot was to be held in Kulu Manali, but due to Aiswarya Rai’s Mani Ratnam film schedule, it was postponed.Meanwhile there are rumours that the Chennai shoot is part of an attempt by Shankar at cost cutting, in these days of recession in the industry!

Asin rocks with Aamir in the film Ghajini!

Asin is all smiles after she completed her introductory song in Hindi Ghajani, tuned by A.R Rahman at a Mumbai studio a few days back.

Later she took part in the last scenes of the film shot in Panchagani, a hill station near Mumbai and with that the entire shoot of her ambitious film is complete. The re-recording is going on and the film is slated for December 25 release.

Remember Asin’s introductory song in Tamil original the Rahatulla… number? Well in the Hindi version, the song was shot by noted ad filmmaker Ravi Udhyavan, who had shot a few commercials with Aamir Khan.

On Aamir’s recommendation, Ravi did the song like a music video which has an international feel to it. He was all praise for Asin, her dedication, and the way she danced. This song will be shown on television promos only after the release.

Meanwhile the actress will be resuming her next schedule of London Dreams in Jan 2009 and has devoted the entire December dates for her ad commitments and the worldwide promotion of Ghajini with Aamir.
