Vikram with sexy Mumaith Khan

Vikram-starrer Kanthaswamy is taking a long time to complete and yet it always pops up in the news for different reasons. A while ago, a song sequence shot in Mexico has attracted a lot of interest in the film. In this song based on the famous bullfights of Mexico, both Vikram and Shriya were dressed as matadors.

Now, the makers of Kanthaswamy have decided to cash in on the item number frenzy in Indian films by roping in hot and sexy Mumaith Khan for a song. Moreover, it will also be a remix of an old hit (comedy actor Chandrababu’s ‘Pambarak Kannale Kadhal...’). Mumaith will shake a leg with Vikram in the song.

Kanthaswamy is directed by Susi Ganesan, who had earlier directed films like Virumbugiren, Thiruttu Payale and Five Star.

The film already has the very hot Shriya as heroine. With Mumaith also appearing in an item number song, there is no doubt that the screen will be scorched by these two beauties. With so much to expect from the film, it is no wonder audiences are eagerly waiting for it to release.

Sakkarakatti-Review

Star-casts: Shanthanu, Vedhika, Ishita and many others

Production: Kalaipuli S Thanu

Story, Screenplay, Dialogues and Direction: Kalaa prabhu

Music: A.R.Rahman Doubts raised in our minds when Kalaprabhu promoted the film conveying the copy - A Musical Treat by Rahman. It all started off with ideas that the film doesn’t have any rigid story. Well, with Bhagyaraj assuring all of us that he was more enchanted by the story when Kalaprabhu narrated it. Well, the film made be debutant director Kalaprabhu is somewhat good. Compare it with the films (B and C grade Movies) made by other experienced directors who make lots of flaws even after gaining long experience. Without working with any directors, Kalaprabhu has made a direct approach and hats off to him for a good effort.

What is the story actually? What are the actors doing there? These are questions that audiences keep yelling across the theatres all through film. Does Kalaprabhu assume himself to be Karan Johar and Shanthanu as Shah Rukh Khan? What was in their mind while making the story and for God’s sake we would plead the young directors not just make films like this. Many aspiring young filmmakers are there unable to make good films and producer of this film should have picked them up and made good film.

Shanthanu looks cute and best in his performance, but looks like he is imitating any one or the other actors all throughout. ‘Oouch’, ‘We study in the same class and blabbering stuffs to the heroines and speaking English in the foreign slang. All that he depicts of himself is that they are so artificial and decelerating his growth. Or else, the young debutant is so professional in his approach of rendering a naturalistic acting.

Ishita giggles out and breaking out with emotions: this is all she does in the film and Vedhika has been used for what they say in Tamil ‘Uppukku Choppu’ in children’s games. It’s hell losing out of control. And the most pathetic part is that many actors appear and suddenly disappear for the rest of film.

A.R.Rahman is the only convincing factor for the audiences and the computer generated works in all the songs again is great visual treat. The traits of Van Helsing be used for a romantic song ‘Chinnamma Chilakamma’ is pleasing to the kids as well the youngsters. Cinematography and Art Direction have been excellently rendered and they enhance the richness of the visual quality. Especially, the songs have picturized very well and color schemes used by Art Director right throughout the film goes well with the situations and ambiance.

It’s ‘Taxi Taxi’ that will keep audiences cool enjoying moment for few minutes with professional dancers and visual presentation looking perfect. It would have been nice if the song was shot more energetic.

As a whole, Sakkarakatti being the team work of youngsters are really a sort of new venture in Tamil Cinema. If they keep working on more and more efficiently, they would be the best professionals in the Tamil film industry. The film has nothing to get stressed as there are no bloodsheds and violence. It’s a grand fiesta for youngsters as they come, sit back, and watch it..

Ajith in his spiritual path

Ultimate Star Ajith has turned more spiritual now these days that he visited and offered prayers at Shirdi Sai Baba temple last week and Chottranikarai Bhagavathy Amman temple yesterday on September 26, soon after he finished dubbing for 'Aegan' in Chennai.

Before acting in the remake film 'Billa', he personally met and received greetings from Super Star where he was delighted with a feast and was presented a book 'Living Masters of Himalayas'. Ajith simply got immersed and overwhelmed while reading it. Rajnikanth's involvement in spirituality and his visit to temples before the release of his films are well-known. Even during the release of 'Sivaji-The Boss', Rajnikanth made a visit to Temple in Tirupati and sought the blessings.

It seems that Ajith, has started following the footsteps of Super Star in his spiritual path. Ajith too has plans to go Tirupati Lord Venkateshwara temple and to the famous Kollur Thai Mookambikai Temple whilst his aegan will release at the October end.

Kadhalil Vizhunthen - Worth a watch

Romance can do wonders in a man’s life. It can make a man or it can even break a man. Debutant director Prasad has chronicled the life of a youth, who life takes a huge turn after he develops a romance in ‘Kadhalil Vizhunthen’. The film-maker has passed out in flying colors and deserves credit for going about his work in a professional manner. The end product, through gory and violent, leaves an impact with the audience. With a lesser known star cast, director Prasad has managed to weave a sequence of some interesting and catchy sequences. Though a predictable storyline, the neat performance from the star cast, racy background of Vijay Anthony and brisk cinematography by Vijay Milton keeps us glues to the seats. Due credit should be given to the lead pair Nakul and Sunaina. It is no easy task to take such a meaty role so early in their career. Both have got under the skin of their character to give their best. After Boys, the young actor has almost waited five years for his next. A worthy weight indeed for he has got to do a movie which one actor rarely comes across in Tamil cinema these days. He fits the role like T. His transformation from an innocent lovelorn youth to an angry young man desperate to save his romance deserves applause.

Sunaina with her girl-next-door look is adequate. It is indeed happy to see a heroine getting so much footage in a contemporary Tamil cinema. She manages to combine glamour with a strong performance. Sampath Raj, who impressed everyone withy films including ‘Chennai 28’ and ‘Saroja’, continues his good run. He plays a police officer on the run for the lover couple. Livingston’s cameo needs to mention. The movie has a host of stars, who have played their part well. Sabha (Nakul), a youth born and brought up in a Chennai slum, meets with an accident due to the negligence of Meera (Sunaina), a girl from a rich family. She ensures that Sabha is nursed back to his normal health. Her caring and amiable way, leaves an impact with Sabha. From hospital, he sets out on a mission to meet Meera and open his heart out. What starts as a friendship blossoms as love between them. However fate takes a cruel turn when Sabha returns from Ooty after playing a football match to meet his beloved. He is informed that Meera has breathed her last. A shattered Sabha rushes to hospital only to see her body taken to post-mortem. Not believing that she is dead, he urged doctors to help save her. However when everyone insists that she is dead, Sabha slips to his own world imagining that Meera is still alive. He flees from Chennai with Meera’s body imagining that she is still alive and both would lead a happy life far from the madding crowd. Anbu Selvan ( Sampath Raj), a police inspector goes on Sabha’s search. He runs behind Sabha only to end up in vain in every attempt of his. Meanwhile, Sabha starts to live his own world with the body of Meera. After blood, gore and score of murders, Sabha gives up his life eventually. Prasad seems to have been inspired by movies like ‘Guna’, ‘By2’, ‘7G Rainbow Colony’ and ‘Kadhal Kondein’. He has managed to draw a link between action and romance in the film, which works out well. The real scene stealer is however Vijay Anthony. The high octave and peppy number “Nakka Mukka” is the USP of the film. It comes twice ion the film and it is thoroughly entertaining. Produced by Umapathy in association with Sun Pictures. ‘Kadhalil Vizhunthen’ is a movie that dwells on romance. It is a feel-good movie with strong portrayals.

Aishwarya Rai has been offered to play the part of Mumtaz Mahal at least five times, the latest being for a film produced by Ben Kingsley and featuring him in the lead.

But all the projects have fallen through. But now industry insiders tell us that a major production house - one that has worked with both Ash and Abhi - is seriously thinking of casting Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan as Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan respectively.

Says a source from the production house, “After seeing how effectively Abhishek has carried off his ‘period’ look in Drona, we seriously want to cast Aishwarya and Abhishek in a period film.”

Incidentally, there seems to be an indelible link between Abhishek Bachchan and the Taj Mahal.

No other present-day actor has shot so often at Agra. In the past five years, Abhishek has already shot five times at the Taj Mahal!

“That’s true,” says Abhishek, having just returned from his latest sojourn at the Taj Mahal for Rakeysh Mehra’s Dilli 6.

Abhishek reels out the number of films he has shot at the Taj Mahal, “The first time I shot at the Taj Mahal was for one of my earliest films Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya, followed by Bunty Aur Babli. The following year, we shot Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom in Agra. And then last year during Aishwarya’s birthday I was shooting my cellphone advertisement in Agra. And now I was there for Rakeysh’s film. It’s quite uncanny.”

So much for Abhi’s tryst with the Taj Mahal. Now, if only his project where he plays Shah Jahan comes through, the romance will be quite complete!
